Stimwell Services is a market leader in stimulation services in the North Sea. Their vessels perform critical acid treatments for offshore rigs and wells. Their HQ in the UK is the catalyst for their vessel operations in Norway, which service the entire North Sea.
Their Island Patriot vessel is a record breaker. Fully equipped with a R&D field laboratory for concept development and testing and the largest of its kind operating in the North Sea.
Stimwell’s HR team are all based in the Great Yarmouth HQ and were struggling to acquire talent through traditional means. Relying mainly on one sector specific job board, they were unable to approach the passive talent market directly.
Our recruitment teams spent time with the HR team to understand their needs and the unique selling points of the opportunities at Stimwell. We knew time was of the essence also, the vessel was due to depart in a matter of weeks and would be offshore for a month before returning to accept a new recruit.
Offshore roles are typically contract positions, with sizable day-rates that can make a permanent position difficult to fill. However, in only a matter of weeks we found a candidate that team loved. He was happy to work a permanent position with an offshore rotation pattern and was within the original budget disclosed by the team.

He is now somewhere in the North Sea, using his Chemical Engineering degree to support the field laboratory operations. His work will improve Stimwell’s service offering and allow the company to maintain it’s market leading presence.
We always screen candidates extensively on their technical skills. However, being field based we needed to ensure we were finding the right fit for a unique company. Being away from your loved ones for an extended time isn’t for everyone. Plus, the crew need to be able to remain amicable and co-operative, even in a turbulent, offshore environment. We spent extra time ensuring we had done our due diligence with the submitted candidates and the client was really pleased with the outcome.
