As a not-for-profit, finding talent that aligns with the company values is of utmost importance. We worked closely with Jon Cape, the Managing Director to understand the needs of the enterprise and learned that the local micro-economy made acquiring staff increasingly difficult. Edinburgh is traditionally a home of Oil and Gas giants, leading to wage inflations and heightened competition for talent.



We ensured we were taking a total-talent approach when sourcing candidates for the Business Development team. Looking at the entire talent market across the UK to ensure we were able to provide short-lists that had the required skills but also the desire to support Power Circle’s mission to end fuel poverty and ensure energy security for all.

 Working with a not-for-profit organization comes with its own unique challenges. Teams are very lean and budgets for headcount are tight. When compared to the large corporate world of renewable energy, it can also be a real challenge to compete with their salaries. We understood this from the get-go and made sure to sell the benefits of working with Power Circle in every call. This creates more exposure for the brand but also ensures we were shortlisting candidates that aligned with the values of Power Circle and the company mission.

Power Circle’s MD was so impressed with the candidates presented. The shortlist submitted had the experience required to flourish in the role but were also genuinely passionate about ending fuel poverty and Power Circle’s mission. At the second stage interviews, the hiring manager let us know that he couldn’t decide between the two candidates and chose to hire both!



He was beyond impressed with the efforts made by our recruitment teams and the emphasis on representing diverse talent.
